That error code means "A Volume Shadow Copy Service operation failed. Please check "VSS" and "SPP" application event logs for more information." You'd better to check the VSS/SPP related error/warning from Application Event Logs area, and found the detailed description for this problem.
Generally we will reconfig the backup schedule from SBS Console if manual backup is working fine, this workaround should fix this issue. However better to check the event first.
