Hi

this is a mechanism to prevent split brain ( bother servers in a failover cluster becoming active at the same time) , when they loose contact with each other..  For the cluster node to be active / "live" then it requires two votes to be promoted to active , or to stay active. one from the host , the other from the quorum disk.

I hope this helps

Hi Joe,
I read about  split brain situation. How this is resolved under Sql server 2008? How are resources managed thru Quorum?
Any update on this query please?
