Are you trying to use this in an application you are writing?

To use it in an application you should add it as a reference.
 - If you don't already have them you will need to download the PIA's from MS
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=3508
- Once installed you should be able to create a new application
- In your solution tree right click on references and click add reference.
- Under the .net tab you should find the option for 'Microsoft Office Interop Excel'

From then it's all code.

I tried downloading the PIA about 5 times to no avail.  After 4.5 hours all I found out all I needed to do was re-install Excel... no clue why.  But after I did the Microsoft.Office appeared in the .net tab.

thanks for the assistance

What a pain.

Just for future reference. If you don't see a reference but know you have the related software installed you can always search for the .dll and add the reference that way. Not the ideal solution but one which will work 99% of the time.

Good luck with your work.
