Mapped drive to LUN dissappears

I have a SAN and all my fiber channel LUNs are under 2 TB except for one of them, which is just over 2 TB. That LUN just over 2 TB is mapped to a drive on my W2K8 server and it frequently just dissappears. I used to have the same problem with another LUN that was over 2 TB.

Is there some with a 2 TB limit on my SAN? Anything else?
Thanks.

There are some Windows limitations, as well as hardware limitations - see http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2010/02/18/understanding-the-2-tb-limit-in-windows-storage.aspx

yes, but does that make a drive letter mapped to a lun disappear?

Windows can't address all of a drive that is greater than 2TB - the NTFS cluster setup doesn't support it.  For a SAN, this may be overcome using one of these methods: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverfiles/thread/b4207736-9a73-4350-8e88-54842b063984/  Using GPT is a common solution.
