Hi

Can anybody please tell me how I add a upgrade license for 50users to a Cisco ASA 5505
I have purchased the upgrade and want to add it to a already working unit without stopping it from working ever again.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi,
no problem, you should have been provided an activation key, you just need to run the above commands:

Cisco-ASA(config)# activation-key <Hex-activation-key>
Cisco-ASA(config)# exit
Cisco-ASA# wr mem
Cisco-ASA# reload

After the firewall reboots, run the “show version” command to verify that the license features have been upgraded.

you won't suffer any change in your working configuration.

If you haven't got the activation key, you should have a PAK number: with that you connect to cisco website, fill in your serial number (from "Show version") and you'll be emailed the key.

hope this helps
