After upgrading from Adobe CS2.2 to Adobe CS5.5, <br />

the behavior of my scanner has changed. <br />
<br />
&nbsp;- I am unable to access my Epson Photo 4490 Scanner using the import menu of Photoshop CS 5.5<br />
&nbsp;- can use the WIA wizard but that has a number of extra steps. <br />
&nbsp;- I can still scan with the Epson scanner applet to my &quot;My Pictures&quot; folder but, I still have to &nbsp;double click on the .jpg files to open them in Photoshop. <br />
&nbsp;- <b>Does anyone know what I would need to do to access the Epson Photo 4490 Scanner directly through Photoshop CS 5.5?</b><br />
- I've checked the Epson site for a new driver but, the newest for this scanner is from 2007. <br />

Epson 4490 Scanner with Adobe CS 5.5 Photoshop

Adobe Creative Suite (CS) is a software suite of graphic design, video editing, and web development applications developed by Adobe Systems. Each edition consists several Adobe applications, including Photoshop, Acrobat, InDesign, Premiere Pro or After Effects. Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator are the industry standard applications for many graphic design positions. CS6 is the last version of the Creative Suite; future versions of their creative software would only be available via their Adobe Creative Cloud subscription service.

Adobe Creative Suite CS

A peripheral device is defined as a computer device, such as a keyboard or printer, that is not part of the essential computer (i.e., the memory and microprocessor). These auxiliary devices are intended to be connected to the computer and used in conjunction with it. Examples of external peripherals include mouse, keyboard, printer, monitor, external Zip drive or scanner, while internal peripherals include CD-ROM drive, CD-R drive or internal modem. Today's new devices, such as tablets, smartphones and wearable computing devices are considered peripherals as they can be connected and used on a computer system. The difference, however, is that these devices can run independently of the computer system.

Peripherals

Photo and imaging software is used to edit and compose raster images; Adobe Photoshop, which dominates the market, has its own topic. Common actions include cropping, slicing, retouching, color replacement, masking and erasing. Other programs include Apple Photo, Corel PaintShop Pro, GIMP, Serif PhotoPlus, Pixlr, PhotoScape, Picasa and IrfanView.
