Decrease PDF file size

Is there a way i can reduce size of PDF files with out losing resolution ?

I am using Adobe Reader X.

"Another easy way to reduce PDF file size (since for some reason it is much harder than it should be) is simply to re-save the file as a JPEG of the desired size and then re-save the resulting JPEG as a PDF.

You can also select the option to remove embedded fonts.
Would normally advise users to use standard Microsoft built in fonts, which everyone usually has.
When the option to remove embedded fonts is selected, this can reduce the file size as well.

You can enforce this as a default, by installing the PDF printer as a second instance in control panel, printers, printer#2 (by going into the advanced properties of the pdf printer, then selecting the prefered and/or desired preferences, eg, font options).
If the PDF contains text as pictures - sometimes as result of scanning - then the PDF can be compressed by using a OCR software as ABBYY FineReader.
