CVS repository not connecting

Hi
till few hours ago the cvs repository was working fine in the network.
suddenly i am starting getting errors such as

Could not connect to :pserver:naveen@emp2:/test_repository: Cannot connect to host: Connection timed out: connect
Connection timed out: connect


or

connection reset

i tried to disable firewalls etc and tried all options still facing problems

please guide

Seems to be connection issue from client to server. Check your server name is resolved properly at your client machine.

check if you are able to ping your server (emp2) from your client
In the command prompt type the following command
ping emp2
and check the IP is correct for your server.

If ping fails/IP is wrong, check the machine name/IP.

If those are okay, check if the CVS server application is running and port 2401 if no SSH or 22 with SSH is opened by CVS application. (You can use process explorer from microsoft if you are using windows)

If  the ports at server are Okay, try typing the following command from the client,
telnet <CVSserverIP> <port Number> (either 2401 or 22 based on the CVS configuration)
You telnet client should not give any error.

If all the above are okay, the problem has to be in firewall at the client side. cvs client is blocked by firewall/antivirus.

if the telnet had any problem, the problem might be in server side firewall/antivirus.
