Person/Group Picker in InfoPath 2010 - Can it be configured to pull email address?

I would like to use the Person/Group Picker in InfoPath to populate a user email in the form. It is being sent outside the company so the full email address must populate. I tried concatenating an email address using AccountID, but our email address format is firstname.lastname, so that doesn't work. Is there any other option?

You need to get it via a web service calling getuserprofilebyname (off top of head).
There is no way to get the email from the people picker out of the box - which frustrates me regularly
