Exchange 2010 migration internal rely not working for backup notifications

Experts,

Just finished a Migration from SBS 2003 sp1 to Server 2008R2 with Exchange 2010. (thanks demazter for the awesome guide)

during the migration email notifications were coming in just fine, after not so much.

just change the SMTP server name (servername not IP) to the new AD/Exch server.

authentication error after error.

ive also tried with IP address and FQDN nothing seems to work.

In order to allow relay, you need to set up a Connector that allows the IP address that is sending email to send anonymously. Otherwise you have to configure the backup system to send emails using an account with a valid mailbox. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232021.aspx has instructions for creating an anonymous relay connector.

interesting, i did try sending from my account no luck but let me try connector and ill see what happens....
