I need to connect back to my home PC. I understand the concept of an invitation to a user for remote access. But does this work when you are getting network services on disparate ISPs? I'm in the ME and my home PC is back in the US.

Yes, that should work fine, unless the remote ISP (remote from the US) has some restrictions in place.

Logmein with an invitation should work fine.  Some more complex and somewhat more expensive would be to install a VPN router and then use VPN to access your home machine. Logmein or a like tool will be easier.
