Prevent Obsolete Items appearing
Asked by: ezskol
- SharePoint 2007
- List

We have a custom column called Status and the choices are Current and Obsolete.

When an item is no longer current, they are obviously modified to be obsolete.  The users would like to ensure that the obsolete items does not appear when searching for specific items within their site.

eg.  http://intranet/sites/faq

What is the best way, without deleting the obsolete items, to only allow current items to appear in the search results without the user having to add exclusion operators like "-" before the term.

Thanks, Ezs

Add the column as a managed property;

Add a property query to the search scope to exclude the relevant value;
