samsung note screen unlock

had a samsung note that was setup with an Exchange email account. the screen unlock settings was greyed out after activating the account.  read some link from below. just want to confirm if definitely there was no workaround for this scenario?

You can turn the screen lock /password requirement off on the Exchange server if its not a requirement (Company policy dependent) but otherwise there is no way round this.

You may need to hard reset the phone to get it working again too....
