Hello,

Does someone know anything about the following issue.
Several users are complaining that outlook 2010 hangs about 8 seconds before going on.
This is always happening when a new mail arrives or before the new mail arrives in the inbox.

We use exchange 2010 with SP2 installed on DAG environment.

Thank you,

Robin

What is the Antivirus in use ? It could be antivirus scanning the new mail, if you don't want that hang, you can try disabling feature "Scan on receiving" under the Antivirus settings.

Hello,

I use trendmicro scanmail for exchange 2010.

On the client access/HUB servers i switcht off transport level scanning.
On the mailbox server i stopped the trendmicro services to investigate if the problem still remains.

I can now simulate the problem.Disable of the trendmicro antivirus did not solve it.

When i send a message with an attachment of > 2MB then outlook hangs about 30 seconds.
I installed the newest outlook 2010 version and it still remains the same.

Someone any ideas ?

Thanks,
Robin

Any firewall in use ? If Yes, make sure the Outlook has Full Access going through Firewall.
and hope  exchange fully patched or updated.

No firewalls.
Exchange version is SP2 but without the rollup 1 which was released on 20 march 2012.

But i have SP2 for three months now. Why does it show up now.

Outlook seems to be sensitive to some of the Add-ins, You should disable all first, then you should start enabling one by one to track which Add-in is causing the trouble.

Uninstall Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector.

Last thing comes in my mind is
->Try to create completely new profile and configure it to connect to the same mailbox and see if any difference.

OK.
I found the add-in which is causing this problem.
It is the McAfee on access email scanner add-in.
When i only switch this on then the problem appears.

There was a new version install two weeks ago and this was probably the trigger.

Thank you for your help.
