Another instance of distiller is busy starting up

"Another instance of distiller is busy starting up. This instance cannot continue." This message keeps coming up after boot time. CS5 + Windows 7. Why?
I have made sure there are no other programs on the computer running Distiller, still getting the same error.

Last year someone else posted this on this same question on the Adobe forum, and there were no replies to it.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There could be another copy of distiller lurking in the background unnoticed. Try running MSCONFIG and clicking on the start-up tab. If in your startup list is  "acrobat assistant" and "acrotray" , they both start up instances of distiller. It is also possible to have multiple listings of either of these programs. Try unchecking all but one, click ok and restart the system.

If that does not work, you may have to reinstall Acrobat. Try using these instructions for Manually removing Acrobat. (It should be safe to ignore the parts about the registry)

http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/manually-remove-acrobat-standard-7.html

And, before re-installing, run MSCONFIG and choose 'diagnostic startup' from the general tab, restart the system and then, reinstall.

I'm happy that you were able to solve your problem. I'm not going to challenge your refund of points, but didn't I mention the startup tab in my answer?

I was able to correct the problem using the instructions for the startup tab.  No need to uninstall and reinstall.

Thanks
