looking for a software to list data extensions

Dear Experts,

where to locate a program that can list documents, video, images...etc. and tell the size of them within a several directory or Drives.

dir *.ext > myoutput.txt won't work for you what do you specifically want?

we have a drive that has more than 500 users shared folder, I need to know what type of file user saved on their folder, is it media, doc, exe,....etc.  I just want to find out the total amount of space taken by each type of these file.
