Yahoo Messenger Freezes computer
Hi,
I have users on yahoo IM 8.10.421, in a domain. All work with no problem except for ONE user. PC locks up a few times per week but ALWAYS on THURSDAY at around 10 am.
I have tried, Malware Scan, Reg Scan-Optimizer, new profile, new PC, re-installing Yahoo, nothing seems to work.
Please, what ever direction you help point me to will be a great help.
Thank you.

What's different about "THURSDAY at around 10 am". Other applications running? Virus scan maybe?

Thats, the problem, nothing should be. All PC's are about the same.I can't figure out whats hitting that pc and not the other PC's.. not even sure whats the best way to monitor, while user is on PC without slowing it down to much...
You could enable Windows logging to see if anything unusual happens around that time.
You could also create a new Winodws profile on that machine to see if it changes the symtoms.

I was thinking more along the lines of the event viewer. I think certain events have to be enabled (auditing file access) but the default event log in Win 7 might be pretty useful.

The debug information is probably more useful to a developer and you might pass it back to Yahoo.

The following is what i got from event viewer, some info, but when i research i get very general info, which could be a few thing.. in this case, i would much rather try to pinpoint what the root cause is..
I will try to submit log to yahoo by "reporting a problem to Yahho", but not sure how long it will take them to get back to me, if at all....

It took take a long time to get info from Yahoo but debug information might be meaningless to the lay person.
Anything happening in the event log just prior to the Yahoo crash?

You might try disabling some services on start-up to see if any seem to be related to the crashes.

what i'm tring now is compatibility Mode:
Under "Compatibility mode", select the check box which reads as "Run the program in compatibility mode for" and in the drop down menu select Windows Vista or XP to run the program in older version of operating system.
I've also seen a few other posting indicating compatibilitiy issuess, but usually with higher
version, but i will prob ugrade to ver 9 or so.
