How to resize root partition (/) of linux VM server 64-bit?
Posted on 2012-04-10
This is a VMware virtual machine. It was setup was OS - SuSE Linux Enterprise server 11 64-bit. It was partitioned with 60GB for "/" directory. Due to rapid grow of the usage, currently, only left 1.2gb free space. So there is a urgent need to increase this "/" directory with another 30GB. How to do it?
From the VMware vsphere client where the above VM hosted, Edit settings... > Hardware; found that there is only one virtual hard disk created.as follows:
Hard disk 1 Virtual Disk
provisioning size 60GB
Max size 256GB
Shall I increase the size in Hard disk 1 first? Please show in step-by-step.
Thanks in advance.
