How to create a visual basic app for Windows Azure

Firstly I am not a programmer: ) I am evaluating various cloud offerings to familiarize myself with. I have setup a test Windows azure trial. I want to create a basic and I mean very basic app using Microsoft visual studio and upload it. I need an end to end example of how to do this but can't seem to find one that is basic.
The bottom line is to get an overview of Azure and when and what scenarios it applies to.
Also as I don't know much about programming if I want to learn some basic programs to create to upload to azure. What language do I need to create them in .net or asp.net or does it matter once I am using Microsoft Visual studio 2010. I need someone to set me straight on this : )
Thanks.
