Drupal 7 Forums installed, but not working

I am trying to set up a Forum in a Drupal 7 site, but am getting errors.

When I go into admin/structure/forums, at the top of the page I get the errors:

Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in taxonomy_overview_terms() (line 279 of /data/15/2/85/72/2574398/user/2822527/htdocs/drupal/modules/taxonomy/taxonomy.admin.inc).
Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in taxonomy_overview_terms() (line 403 of /data/15/2/85/72/2574398/user/2822527/htdocs/drupal/modules/taxonomy/taxonomy.admin.inc).
Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in taxonomy_overview_terms() (line 405 of /data/15/2/85/72/2574398/user/2822527/htdocs/drupal/modules/taxonomy/taxonomy.admin.inc).

If I click Add Container, I am able to fill out the form for a new container, but when I click the Save button either:
The Add Container form returns with the following errors at the top:

Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in taxonomy_term_save() (line 570 of /data/15/2/85/72/2574398/user/2822527/htdocs/drupal/modules/taxonomy/taxonomy.module).
Notice: Undefined index: field_name in _field_invoke() (line 188 of /data/15/2/85/72/2574398/user/2822527/htdocs/drupal/modules/field/field.attach.inc).
Notice: Undefined index: field_name in _field_invoke() (line 188 of /data/15/2/85/72/2574398/user/2822527/htdocs/drupal/modules/field/field.attach.inc).

or I get the following fatal error:

Fatal error: Cannot access empty property in /data/15/2/85/72/2574398/user/2822527/htdocs/drupal/modules/field/field.attach.inc on line 197

I believe that I have all of the permissions set up correctly.  I am logged in as administrator anyway, who has access to everything.

Thanks.

You should update to the latest Drupal version there was a few problems with the forum that were fixed.

Are you testing this online or locally?

It's always a good thing to test new package or new component locally before going live.
You can install Wampserver on your PC to make tests.

I migrated the drupal site to another hosting service, upgraded to the latest version of Drupal, and get the same errors.

I believe they are the same errors as before. Just in case, here they are.

When I click on Configure next to Forums in the Modules page I get the following warnings:

Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in taxonomy_overview_terms() (line 279 of /home/natio102/public_html/site/modules/taxonomy/taxonomy.admin.inc).
Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in taxonomy_overview_terms() (line 403 of /home/natio102/public_html/site/modules/taxonomy/taxonomy.admin.inc).
Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in taxonomy_overview_terms() (line 405 of /home/natio102/public_html/site/modules/taxonomy/taxonomy.admin.inc).

Then when I attempt to create a container, or a forum, the error message is:

Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in taxonomy_term_save() (line 595 of /home/natio102/public_html/site/modules/taxonomy/taxonomy.module).
EntityMalformedException: Missing bundle property on entity of type taxonomy_term. in entity_extract_ids() (line 7501 of /home/natio102/public_html/site/includes/common.inc).

Thanks.
