Looking for project management software with strong Windows interface

My new project manager as steered me away from doing tasks in Outlook / Google Apps and into true project management software.  We've experimented with both TeamBox and ZOHO.  Both have their strengths and both have their weakness.  Here's my biggest gripe with both web apps: Adding and updating tasks in both interfaces is SLOW.

I'm used to Outlook tasks where I can add and edit individual tasks very quickly.  Additionally, I can select and modify multiple tasks.

To be fair, ZOHO does have a Google Apps task interface.  Since Outlook now syncs tasks with Google Apps via the Google Apps sync tool, it might be possible to edit ZOHO tasks in Outlook.  (I'm not holding my breath.)

Is there web-based project management software out there that's really designed for speed.  Alternatively, is there web-based software that has a strong Windows component that syncs with the database on a public server?

It's worth noting that I'm a huge fan of Google Apps.

It's also worth noting that the projects are all software-development related.
