There's a couple of thing I'd like to modify for featured members in JomSocial.

I'd like the featured members to remain featured forever. Currently they only remain featured via the featured limit in the component back end. So it might be better to have a plugin or module rather than modifying core files.

I'd like to overlay the avatar with a small image to indicate that they are featured. I'd love for this to integrate with other components such as Kunena but I'm not sure how difficult that would be.

I'd like to have a module to display x number of featured members similar to the way Top Members are displayed minus the karma points or the way they are displayed in when choosing view all members.

I'm not a coder. I can make sense of PHP somewhat, as in reading it. However, I don't know the rules to writing PHP. With that said, I may need a lot of help.

I can help with a portion of this

"I'd like to have a module to display x number of featured members similar to the way Top Members are displayed minus the karma points or the way they are displayed in when choosing view all members. "

What you can do is take the top members or the latest members and look at the code and change the sql statement to point at the featured members rather than new or top members. TO remove the karma points, just remove the html that produces it, you can set the limit of members pulled within your sql statement

In regards to the unlimited featured members it wouldnt be much of a hack to edit that, just put it to some silly number or instead get it to reference a field in the database, then you could make a plugin as you say to pull said variable into the featured members features.

hope this helps.

As the things your asking for don't exist as far as I know, your options are try the above or pay a coder to do it as its quite a bit of work

Storm, I've tried your suggestion but I think this is way over my head. Thanks for the help though.
