Installed my first Mac server running Lion. I have a script that runs a on Windows server 2003 R2 box that needs access to the share on the mac server.

Cant seem to connect. I went into System Prefs and into Sharing and File Sharing and made sure that "Share Files and Folders Using SMB" was checked. still cannot connect.

When I try to connect I get "\\192.x.x.x "An unexpected network error occurred"

Lots of unknowns here. First things first. Can the Win03 even see the Mac, and vice versa?
Determine the IP numbers of both machines, and ping each from the other. If they are not working, you have a network problem rather than a sharing or permissions problem.

yes both can ping each other. I figured it out over the weekend... Reading some forums they suggested that you delete the windows user account on the Mac and recreate it and then turn off SMB on the share and turn it back on.

Doing that fixed the issue.
