Distribute PDF such that it can be viewed by authorized people only

Is there any way to secure a PDF so that, once it is distributed either via email, via a web link on a central web server or any other means, so that it cannot REASONABLY be re-forwarded or distributed to other people?

For example, can the PDF check with a central server to ensure that the viewer is authorized to view?

Or is there a service that can host the PDF that can only display it to authorized links?

How are you consider distributing it?

You can have a site into which users must login to view the content.

Hi jkeegan,

This is something that I'm working on a solution for aswell.  So far I have found three ways to set encryption and permissions for pdf files.  Certificates, Passwords and Adobe LifeCycle Rights Management.    Adobe has a workflow process for each with pros and cons here:

Im leaning towards using certificates because that way even if the pdf file is distributed to unauthorised recipients they won't have read access without the certificate.  Well, less tach savvy users anyway.
