I have a computer that I just put in a new Asus P8H61-Mlx Plus board.   I used the cd that came with it to install all drivers.   They all loaded and in Device manger there are no Red or yellow smbols and all items are loaded corrrectly.  I plug in the network cable to the gigabit port and it tries to find an IP address but cannot.  I try other computers on this same cable and they connect fine.   What can I do to get this working?   It is running Win XP

it can be this system is not able to negotiate the speed with the network switch..
In the network card setting.. try to change the speed to 100 Mbps full Duplex.

I did exactly as you said, and it still cannot ppull a valid IP address.
can you check if your IP Addresses in DHCP scope are full so that this new machine is not able to get new IP
If it has IPv6 installed, disable it (uncheck the box next to it in the NIC's Properies).
