I am starting  a http request/response wcf service to exchange xml files. What's a good place to start? I saw few examples with classes defined for request and response. what is a good design for such projects? any suggestions?

Can you clear with quite more details...? Are you going to send XML files as a response?

Basically the response will be formatted as a XML structure.

To form a XML structured request/response, you can use class for request/response values. This will create a well formed XML structure for your request and response.

Have a look on the link for sample WCF creation http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Languages/.NET/ASP.NET/Q_27678703.html#a37854741

and this too http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/42643/Creating-and-Consuming-Your-First-WCF-Service

Make use of classes for the XML structured request and responses if you are going to send multiple details.
