RAID5 Resizing
I need to add more hard drives(different storage size) to existing RAID5 array. Kindly help me to configure the array with out data loss.
Check the manual for your particular RAID controller. HP's Smartarray controllers often have the capability to just add new drives to an existing array while the server is running and then have the array expand to those new drives. Just make sure the controller's battery is fully charged before starting, and that you have at least one good, working backup.
Take backup. Connect the drives and get to ACU. There you can expand the RAID and then the logical volumes as well.
If you have a cache battery. If not array expansion is disabled on Smart Array controllers.
You can check by opening the ACU, highlighting the controller in the dropdown list and hitting "more information" button.

The controller's battery is fully charged. Please let me know the steps to resize the RAID5
Resize volumes on RAID5 or add more drives to RAID?
Just noticed it says "different size" in the question so what are the current disks and quantity and what do you want to add? Bit of a waste adding 300GB disks to 36GB ones for example because you'd only get 36GB more per 300GB disk.

The available Hard Drives are SAS 10K 146GB*3. Now I need to add SAS 72GB*3 to the existing RAID5 array. Please let me know is it possible to add different spec of HDDs..?

Thank you very much for your solution. I have added hard drives and created additional array for the RAID.
