We have a Dell Poweredge 2900. It has 3 x SCSI disks in a RAID 5.

We have 2 x Partitions - C drive and E data drive.

We are running out of space on both drives.

We were planning on adding some more hard drives.

What is the best software to add more space to the existing C drive parition?

Those comments from Msft won't help you until you make the logical device larger through the RAID.  That requires an image backup, rebuild the RAID, restore on to the new LUN...

THen you do the resizing of the partitions.

Won't work on C: anyway, diskpart cannot extend the system partition (although Dell's extpart will except that E: is in the way probably). Once the LUN is extended by adding more disks with open manage server assistant you'll need to manipulate the partitions with gparted or similar offline utility.

As for making the RAID itself bigger - to add to dlethe's comment ... it is actually possible to add drives to your RAID 5, reconfiguring it from a 3-disk RAID 5 to a 4 (or more) disk RAID 5.  A full backup/restore procedure to a larger array is not necessary.  Let me know if this is something you are looking at doing.

If the RAID controller has more slots then connect additional drives. Otherwise backup & recovery to newly configured bigger RAID is the simplest way.
