I want to copy some SharePoint pages from company site to my dev site

I've been given my own dev site to experiment and become familiar with SharePoint.  The one in development is being worked on by other people and they wanted to be sure I didn't change anything there by experimenting.  But they do have some pages that are behaving oddly, looks mostly like html stuff, and they'd like me to see if I can fix it.  So I'd like to copy/import their pages to my site so I can experiment all I want without worrying about breaking the pages beyond repair.

Does anyone know of a way to easily do this (thought I could just go through windows explorer and find the right folder/file and copy and paste) or a way to test pages without overwriting them but still be able to see the changes?

If they're not in a Publishing site you could create a Site Template with Content. Put this template into your dev site and create a site that will have the pages and other assets too.

You can download pages too, and explorer view would probably work for that.

If they're publishing pages, it gets more complex.

Well I opened up the html of the page and copied all of that and created a new page in my dev site and pasted the code in there.  It looks the same except for a column that's missing but I think its outside of the main part of the page.  Would doing this cause any major issues with regards to how it functions on my own site?  Like connecting to Lists or Webparts that would be broken now?

If you're confident that this degree of copying will help you fix the HTML issues, it's fine.

There's a little more fidelity in the methods I detailed above. Horses for Courses as they say...
