what is the /faces/* in url-pattern in JSF?

Dear Experts,

In Url-pattern of JSF we will use /faces/*, *.jsf as values, what is the difference between both of them and please provide any other possibilities in the url-pattern.

eg: www.sathish.com/faces/welcome.jsp 
Means it will check the faces in the  url and it wont check the extention . it will work for any extention like html,jsp  etc ....

if ur faces match with that URL then ur servlet will call (that ur mention in web.xml)



--------->*.jsf
eg: www.sathish.com/xx/welcome.jsf
Means it will check the only jsf extention in the  url  if it match with that URL then ur servlet will call (that ur mention in web.xml)
