We are a school system using 3com 5500G switch as our core router. It is a stack of three. They are connected using stacking cables.

If one of these three switches fail, what are the steps in replacing it?

Do I need to rewrite my question?
If a switch in this stack fails do I just pull it out and replace it or will I need to configure the stack again?
It depends a on how it is configured.  If it is a true 'stack', then you manage all three switches using a single IP address then the new switch will have to b configured to know it's a member of the stack.  If instead, the switches are simply cascaded, the only configuration required will be to duplicate the VLAN configuration of the switch.
