I am migrating user home folders from windows server 2003 to server 2008R (virtual server)

I used beyond compare  to copy over the folders. I then used power shell scipts to set permissions then used another script to point the user to the new server location. And marking the old folder by prefixing this with zzz.

All ok except one site where the old 2003 server is limping along. It has taken beyond compare nearly a week to copy 100 users and has still not finished.
When I go to move a user using powershell it can take between 5 to 15 minutes and it isnt moving any data.
Is there another way of copying the folders over to the new server keeping permissions intact?

Rich-copy tool is a multi threaded tool which can transfer the large folders relatively quickly.
Once copied over ask the user to Log in and the permission would be applied with out any customization.
