calling rest webservice from C#

i have a REST service that i need to call and parse the returned XML.
the address for the service looks like this:

http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9080/apex/api/query?filtername=CHASSIS_INQUIRY&PARM_unit_nbr=MRTZ405084%20&operatorId=GCT&complexId=GCTUSA&facilityId=BAYONNE&yardId=GLO

it requires authentication.

the result xml look like this:

  <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <query-response>
- <data-table filter="CHASSIS_INQUIRY" count="0">
- <columns>
  <column>Type ISO</column>
  <column>Line Op</column>
  <column>Type Arch ISO</column>
  </columns>
  <rows />
  </data-table>
  </query-response>

can someone show me  methods to do this?
i need to integrate this into a console application.
any code examples would be greatly appreciated.

It is a sample to call Y!'s service but can be used for other services as well.
