There's lots of sitemap plugins that do something like this (see http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-archive-sitemap-generator/) but for best control over the output you should look at the use of wp_list_pages() to generate pages and wp_get_archives() for posts.

Those are both pretty simple-to-understand functions and you could simply create a custom page template that makes the calls and returns the results:

I have the end user in mind with this question and the links will change on a per page/post basis. I'm using widget wrangler to create links widgets  - organizing by links categories. so, on say the about us page, the end user can assign the "about us links" and all of the links in the "about us" links category will show up on the about us page. Most of these links are not external though - they link to other pages.

So a content creator or a site visitor?

Any criteria for this or purely user-selected?

a content creator with no programming knowledge.

purely user selected based on the link category

So you want a related posts/pages plugin that doesn't use an algorithm to determine the related content but rather let the content creator pick it manually?

If so, that's a bad intersection of features :) Most people want it the other way around.

What I'm using already works. I'm using Links -not a plugin. There is a field in Links called "Web Address"-I was hoping there was a plugin that would allow me to search for pages/posts (much like the link feature in the rich text editor) instead of having to copy & paste the entire link into the Web Address field.

Unfortunately, no.  It just kind of runs against the grain of how the Links section is intended to be used and I'm not even sure the filters and hooks exist to alter it that way without editing the core functions.

I'll keep going through the plugin repo to see if there is something but initial results are not optimistic. There are a billion related posts/pages solutions though.

Been combing through for an hour and a half and no luck.  Also been combing through the API and I think my suspicion is correct in that Links are what they are and there's no documented hook, filter or action that will alter it.

So what you are doing will work, after a fashion, but it's probably not the "best" solution in a WordPress sense.  A related content plugin that works via custom fields or as a dynamic widget would be the solution I would go to.

That being said, if it works it works...

Thanks for the help Jason -I agree, not the best solution. There may be a better plugin out there - plus the end user is going to balk at the numerous steps involved.  If Ifind one, I'll post it to this question.
