Backup Exec 2012 USB drive not recognized

I've recently upgraded from BE 2010 to 2010. I have an external USB drive attached which is recognized and accessible by Windows 2003 R2 server OS.

I'd like to create a new backup to disk folder on this drive but BE does not offer it as an option. Worked perfectly in BE 2010.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

How did you upgrade from BE2010 to 2010? Is is a typo?
What type of HDD is it? USB3.0? 3TB?

Sorry for the typo -- Upgrade was from BE2010 to BE2012. Yes, the HDD is a USB 3.0 drive, but attached to a USB 2 port. Capacity is 2 GB

Thanks,

2TB I assume. Do you have data on it? The quickest way would be copying out the drive and formatting it using Windows Disk Management.

There's no data on the drive. One can  read and write data to it and it has a drive letter assigned to it,  so why would re-formatting help? It's just that BE doesn't see it as an available drive.

Just a suggestion in case BE2010 could mark it as its storage. Btw is this 4k drive?

I believe so...Why?

There were some compatibility claims for advanced format drives with Backup Exec. But the drives in this case were 3TB.
FINALLY got through to Symantec support. External USB hard drives need to be configured as removable disk cartridges. Go figure...

My posted solution was provided by Symantec, and I can confirm that it worked (at least for me).
