Say, any idea if BB plans to release an improvement on the Bold 9900? Its battery life is apparently poor. Tx

I'm considering purchasing one versus holding off a bit if a new model is expected.

I believe they brought out the 9790 after the 9900? Any ideas why?
Btw, would you go with the 9900 at this time? My current phone is a Bold 9700 and like its keyboard and the BB design model.

Aside question - how does OS 7 differ from OS 6. I'm currently using OS 6 on the Bold 9700
I already have 9900.. yes battery of 9900 is not as good as 9700 but i like 9900 for performance/Speed while working on OS7...

9790 is upgrade for 9700 with touch screen..
below you will find difference in 9700 and 9790

I think OS7 is much better in performance than OS6..

Btw, What things don't you like about your bold 9900.
9900 is little bigger/heavier than 9700 which i liked and battery was better in 9700 comparable then 9900 ..

tx. Perhaps you can tell me if it has a SatNav or similar GPS program built in? Do you use it as a GPS?

I Just use google maps as GPS..
for NFC-- near Field Communication is used for transferring and sharing data between devices.

Re 9900 Bold performance and battery issues;
You need to note the following, the handset by default has full 3G, also gps and location services are active, goto manage connections, change the default network connections to 2g (not 3g and 2g), this will slow the data connection and speed from full 3g to Edge or GPRS, though usually you can get another 20-30% extra performance out from the battery, also close any apps which are running in the background, as they can use power.
Goto options, device, location settings, turn off gps and location services.
Vibrate if left active in the sound profile can use power.
Turn off WiFi and bluetooth where possible.
Look at www.crackberry.com for general tips and also www.blackberryos.com as the two compliment each other fairly well.
If your carrier supports it, try to upgrade the device os to 7.1 as this has a built in battery optimisation and power management, though not all carriers support it.
By comparison to the 9780 with OS6, I used to get about 4-6 days though with some work I can now get 2-3 days on average from the 9900, though with heavy touch screen use, more internet browsing than I used to do (web and a few more apps) this has impacted upon performance.
Try the above, any feedback, post any comments, I'll monitor this item.
