Losing Internet Connection and Winsock error

A Windows XP will intermittently disconnect from the Internet through Internet Explorer and the error message is "Not all base service provider entries could be found in the winsock catalog.  A reset is needed."  Reboot the machine and it is fine again for a few hours.  Have tried virus scans, winsockxp and system restores to no avail.  Any assistance offered would be appreciated.

Please run below command to reset TCP/IP and winsock on your computer. restart and then try.

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
netsh winsock reset
