Can someone tell me if Crystal Reports 2011 & 2008 are compatble?

Can you modify 2011 reports with 2008 and modify 2008 reports with 2011?

What file extension does Crystal report files have?  Is it .rpt?

I will also have to edit CR files is there anything I need to know?

I know you can modify 2008 reports with 2011... I've never tried to go the other way, but it notifies you that it is saving in the new 2011 format, so it might not be editable in 2008 once you save it in 2011.

Yes, the file extension is .rpt

As far as I know there is no difference in report formats between CR2008 and CR2011.

There are a couple of new features in CR2011 but as I recall they were minimal changes.  New features in CR2011 will not work in CR2008 but I don't think editting a CR2011 file with CR2008 will cause any issues.
