I tried to load java apps from both IE and Firefox, but neither will load Java

They complain that java can not be loaded

I am on WIndows 2008 R2

I did a java -version from the command prompt, and it says I have java 1.6, but I cant tell the browser that

This was all working quite well until the last WIndows update and subsequent reboot

What should I do

Uninstall java, remove all items of Java, eventually if you have problem use this tool:

http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?s=ce525ee554b3d146b423116741d7a8b9&autocom=downloads&showfile=41

Then install the latest java from java.com. Give me feedback, how i's work
What version of browsers?
Newer Firefox releases require the "next generation plugin" rather than enabling Java directly.

And I believe that plugin needs to be enabled in the Control Panel applet for Java, on its Advanced tab.
