Windows 2008 R2 virtualized and Aero interface - anybody got this combo working?

Is it possible to have the Aero interface in a 2008 R2 64-bit server that is running inside a virtual machine? We can't seem to get it to work and we know it's supposed to work for a fully physical 2008 R2 64-bit server so we are wondering if it's only for physical but not for virtualized.  I am interested in having people who respond who know from practical experience as to whether this is possible especially for anybody who has this working.

Yes, it works, you need to Enable 3D Support in VMware, and Assign enough Graphics Memory.

It's exactly the same configuration for Windows 7, make sure the video driver is the VMware SVGA 3D  driver.

hancocka: We are using HyperV to run the 2008 VM not VMWare - what is the equivalent, if any, of the VMWare procedure?

Aeriden: Just to confirm you have a Hyper-V virtualized 2008 R2 and you have the Aero interfacre? If that's correct what did you do to get it going?
It did not state in question what platform you were running,
Is it possible to have the Aero interface in a 2008 R2 64-bit server that is running inside a virtual machine?

Yes - VMware vSphere 5.0, VMware Player 4.0, VMware Workstation 8.0.

I thought I clarified just above your comment but perhaps it was confusing. I wrote: "We are using HyperV to run the 2008 VM not VMWare - what is the equivalent, if any, of the VMWare procedure?"

What that was meant to mean is what is the HyperV equivalent of what was recommended for VMWare - how do it enable Aeroon a 2008 R2 server running in a 2008 R2 HyperV VM?
