I would like to Deploy the contents of a CAB file through GPO?

is this possible. and how do i do that please help.

It can done by 2 way. One is need to sue third party tool to convert deployment file into MSI or can be done using using ZAP file deployment.

But Zab deployment bit confused Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2.

I would like to know does it support windows 2008 R2.

How to ZAP . Is there step by step instruction. I'm trying to Avoid the third party software.
1. Create a folder and share the folder.( provide the appropriate permission for the suer who need to install )
2. Extract the CAB file to this share folder ( i.e., Distribution folder )
3. Open a Text file and provide the below information.

[Application]
FriendlyName = Name of the application
SetupCommand = \\deploy\adobe\filename.exe ( Setup file where you have extract i.e ., distribution folder )

4. Save the file on the distribution folder with .zap extension.

5. Create a GPO and Select User configuration and Right click Software Installation
6. Click New --> Package
7. Type the path to the folder which contains .zap file
8. Click Open , In file types box , click ZAW Down-level application Package ( .Zap)
9. Clcik the .zap file and then click open and clcik Publish and clcik OK.
10. Link the GPO to the OU for thom you have to deploy it.
