RDP Will Not Connect; Cannot find the file specified.
I have a windows 7 pc trying to connect to a windows server 2008 r2 box.
all was working great then i came back and could not log into the server. The server is off-site but i was wondering what happened? is there anything i can do remotely to try and fix it?
it just hangs at the welcome screen, and then says "cannot find the file specified"
I have tried from multiple PC's (windows 7 and xp pro) and multiple domain admin accounts.
please help!

no updates have been done in over a week, and also i can rdp into all the other servers fine. and lastly this IS our primary DC
Something you may try, but it will have to be done from the 2008 Server. From within Remote Desktop Services Manager, you may want to reset the RDP-Tcp connection.
You can not remote into this server from any where?
Can you check the Event Logs to see if there are any listed?

It sounds like the server you are connecting to is where the problem lies.
Maybe that server lost a drive or maybe an active directory group policy was pushed out that broke the server (among many other possibilities). To solve this you need to get an administrator to log in to the terminal and figure out what went wrong (and ideally to to fix it).

Well this is our Primary DC for our sub-domain. there are numerous other GC's for our domain and subdomain and none of those are denying us RDP access. I would assume that ANY gpo update like that would in turn deny me from accessing ANY DC's of any kind?
and also even the other Admin's on other sites cannot rdp into this box.
and if it helps... the damn thing is on a VMWare ESX server....

PowerShell remoting or ssh possible to look at the eventlog ? Thats why it's good to have a second way to access a server.

got in through powershell to the event log and theres nothing at all about RDC/RDP or any errors... It looks as if it doesnt even log the RDP sessions?
