Hi Experts, We have a external IIS webserver at our office that hosts the company website. We are getting a significant amount of hits in the IIS logs at &quot;\Wpad.dat&quot; from various external general web users? I can't seem to understand why this would be? I have read the MS technet &nbsp;articles on this file but it seems to be used with a ISA Proxy server that we don't use?<br />

Could you offer me a better understanding of why this may be or what needs to be done to not allow external web users to be looking for &quot;\Wpad.dat&quot; when they hit our company website.<br />

Wpad.Dat IIS why on a Web Server

IIS is Internet Information Services, the web server included with Windows Server operating systems. All current versions are built on a modular architecture; modules can be added or removed individually so that those required for specific functionality are installed. The full installation of IIS includes HTTP, security, content, compression, caching, logging and diagnostics.
