Connecting to HP iLO
Hi Experts,

I know this have been discussed serveral times but I will like to be certain on the steps because one of our HP servers has no display and I have no documentation on the current iLO configuration.

1) Can I connect a RJ45 cable from the iLO port directly to my notebook?
2) If yes to question one, will both a straight and cross cable work?
3) On my notebook, do I have to configure a static IP similar to IBM RSA or just type in the DNS name as stated in the tag into my web browser?
4) What if the information on the tag is wrong or the default settings have been changed, is there any way to access to iLO or check why the server has no display?

Thanks.

The server is a stand alone - not connected to a DHCP/DNS.I am using a cross cable from my notebook directly to the server, set a static IP and subnet mask but  I couldn't connect to the default IP: 192.168.1.1.

Currently using angry IP scan to scan through all the IPs. Hopefully, I'm able to find something.

Thanks Guys. I manage to log into iLO - fortunately the information in the tag is correct. Found out that there is no video output status which suggest that my video card could indeed be faulty.

Servers are computing devices that are similar to desktop computers in that they have the same basic components, but are significantly different in size, configuration and purpose. Servers are usually accessed over a network, and many run unattended, without a computer monitor, input device, audio hardware or USB interfaces. Many servers do not have a graphical user interface (GUI), and are configured and managed remotely. Servers typically include hardware redundancy such as dual power supplies, RAID disk systems, and ECC memory, along with extensive pre-boot memory testing and verification. Critical components might be hot swappable, and to guard against overheating, servers might have more powerful fans or use water cooling.
