Windows 2008 Blue Screen - Bugcode USBDRIVER

Hi all
Trying to install Windows 2008 R2 onto a HP G5 server (dual core, 8GB RAM) and just before it completes the install then the machine blue screens with bugcode_usbdriver errors. I have tried installing with a PS2 keyboard and no mouse plugged in just in case this makes a difference and am currently trying to re-install with USB disabled in the BIOS. Have also tried installing with ILO disabled too to no avail.
Has anyone else come across this and if so, how did you get round it? I have done a quick search on google and the only thing I can find so far relates to a machine blue screening when a USB device is plugged in post install. This also says that there is a fix available to install but relies on the fact that windows is installed to start with !! If anyone has any idea's then I would really appreciate the help.
I did wonder if it was a hardware issue but I can successfully install Windows 2003 Std (haven't tried the R2 version yet) and also ESXi without any problems so dont think its hardware related.

Thank you very much for any help you can give

Have you tried installing the operating system from the smart start disc that comes with your server?

no, got the server second hand so no smart start CD. Never had the problem installing windows 2008 from scratch on the G4's that we have, just this one :-)
What model is the server?

My recommendation is to use the SmartCD to do this install, it has all the drivers needed for a successful install and since you can't get 2008 to finish this must be driver related

I assume you know where to download the Smart CD? Post server model if not and we'll post the link you need...

Hi
Model is HP DL360 G5 (HP Proliant DL360 G5 2 x Dual Core 2.33GHz Xeon - 8GB Ram - 2 x 72GB SAS HDD) if you could post a link for it I would be really grateful. It's driving me nuts !!

Thanks again

Hi
Unfortunately after running the smartCD then I am still having exactly the same problem, still getting BSOD with BUGCODE_USBDRIVER.

Has anyone got any other idea's as I have no idea whats going on, 2003 standard installs fine, its just Windows 2008 R2 that seems to be having "issues" on this box...

Thanks very much for any help you can give.
Did you try Safe mode boot? Just to see if you can get in...you mentioned you found this issue on Google that has an existing fix - possibly if you can get into Safe mode you can then apply this fix(just for reference was this a link to a download from HP site?)

Can you post the link?
Its also possible the SmartCD in its current revision doesn't have the patch included

Hi
Tried to boot into safe mood and just when I thought I was able to "break in" I got a message saying that setup cannot complete while in safe mode and to exit safe mode so set up can finish. Rebooted and unfortunately got the same message saying that the machine had rebooted unexpectedly or an unknown error had occurred.

One link I came across hints at it being a problem to do with ILO which I tried to apply an update to it (when i managed to install 2003 std) but got messages saying that either the hardware didnt exist or the update didnt apply to it. the Link that I found for that one was:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserversetup/thread/9f50ce58-a139-45db-8614-1bade5b16833/

Unfortunately the link that the person gives doesnt work anymore...

Will find and post the other google link asap but I think it referred to a knowledge base article/microsoft fix rather than it being from HP

managed to find the answer via the HP forums, not from EE.
