Hi,

here you go:

mklv -t raw -y ora002 -U oracle -G oracleadmin -P 770 vg_ora 1200M

"raw" is not a standard LV type, it's just an eyecatcher meant to identify a RAW volume. You can use other names, if desired - as long as you don't use jfs, jfslog, jfs2, jfs2log, paging or boot.

Have fun!

Hi wmp,

Excellent. You saved the day!

Does it make any sense to specify the PP number as you already specified the size?

Thank you!

That's a matter of taste, and you can't specify both in one command.

When specifying the size im K/M/G you will get the number of partitions needed to create a volume of at least this size, whereas when specifying the size in number of partitions you will get exactly that number.

You didn't indicate the PP size of the VG in your question, so I had to use the size in MB in my answer.

Thx for the points!
