CSS Dropdown menu on top of rotating images

My client wants the main navigation of their website to display 'over' a rotating image background.  I searched other EE posts, but found most dealt with only the actual dropdown was going behind the image...not having the nav bar over the images.  I found one script that worked to a point...but when the image faded out/in, so did the nav bar.  Here's the site:  www.katantech.com.  I don't have the image changing since it wasn't working right, but I just need ot know if this is even possible.  Please let me know.  Thanks.

If I were you, I'd take the actual menu out of the slider, then position it absolute over the slider.

So your HTML would be like this:
<nav>
   <slider>
   </slider>
   <menu>
   </menu>
</nav>

When I do this, my menu goes behind the image.  I'm still learning CSS, so maybe it's something to do with telling it the image goes 'behind' the menu.  I even tried moving the menu above the Slider call, but same result.  So, how do I get it to know that the slider goes 'behind' the menu?

We're going to fix that with z-index.  The slider will need to have a lower z-index than the menu.  The menu will have a z-index of 100 and the slider will be 1 or something like that.

Can you make the changes though?

AHHHHH!!!  YOU ARE THE COOLEST!!!  Thank you so much for this.  I just need to take a good CSS class.

I'm trying, but am still note convinced that total CSS is the end all, but this is helpful.  They just need to get the print thing fixed...where you print a CSS page and 10 pages print looking NOTHING like the site.

Thanks again!
