Exchange Server / ESXi / Other Guests

I am looking to do a migration of my companies network.  I was planning to virtualize Exchange, but am wondering how many guests can run along side it on a standalone ESXi box with DAS storage.

We have roughly 50 users connecting to Exchange plus some users phones.  The server is a DL380 G7, with 2 E5640 Xeon processors and roughly a terabyte of DAS storage in a RAID 5 config.

There are 4 nics, one dedicated for Exchange.  I know it is a tough question to answer but wondering if any one else runs Exchange in a similar fashion and what other guests you have running along side it.  I'm afraid if I put other guests on the box it could create issues.  Currently there is only 1 other guest, a DC.

Thanks...

You will be fine as long as you assign the correct amount of memory and CPU to it. I have worked with many company who have virtualized Exchange with that many users or more. The only thing you will want to make sure is that it will be supported by Microsoft. Which version of Windows and Exchange are you running?

It's server 2008 R2, and Exchange 2010.

The server has 36GB of ram...  I have thick disks provisioned for Exchange.

I have the Exchange guest assigned 2 vCPU's, and 8 GB of ram...

Just worried of disk performance if you add other guests I guess.  The server has 8 drives in it, again in RAID 5 setup.

Can I ask what the the type of roles the other guests have on that 2950...?

I may have an Accpac Server, possibly a WSUS/AV box...  Not sure what else to make things work for a short while.
I run Exchg 2K7 on ESX 4U2 along with about 25 other VMs. I have about 230 users. I have a FC SAN (CX4) and haven't had any problems, overall. My other VMs run local DB, and I also have SQL 2K5 as a VM on the same phys box.

I have a DC, Linux box (light), BIND server, TFS, and VPN server on this as well. We also have a 2003 and 2010 hybrid at another location. We are currently moving to Office 365.
