Windows 2008 R2 Core workgroup mode - management from Windows 7 computer

I have a 2008 R2 Core server in workgroup mode that for various reasons I don't want to be part of a domain. I still want to manage it from an external Windows 7 computer with the server management tools. Can I do it if it is not in a domain? And if so how would I do it?

Thanks. You say 'some roles' - do you have a list of what can and can't be managed?

I would have to test them but obviously things like AD DS wouldn't work using a workgroup.

I like to manage Hyper-V role. I found this:
http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/HVRemote
which has exactly what I want: to manage Hyper-V server in a workgroup from a Windows 7 client in a domain with Hyper-V Remote Management Configuration Utility. I'll test it out.

I just tested it and it worked pretty well.
