Renaming the Vmware player

I have virtual machine(using Vmware player) it has computer name FTest  and fullname has
FTest.development.robotics.lan.
I want to rename it to MTest  because one of the problems i am having is i am unable to get external ip address because on network there is a machine which is by the name FTest. And after renaming the vmware i have to go to virtual machine settings navigate to Network adapter and check the Bridged:connected directly to the physical network to get external IP. Can anyone tell  me how to rename the virtual machine

I always started by renameing the folder containing the VM files, then manually open with VM player.  Then do as hanccocka stated above...

Do I need to change the name of the root folder or what is the folder extension name which i need to rename
You need to rename the VM like you do a physical machine. Folder name/vmx name/display name can be the same.
there is no real requirement to change the VM Player name, unless you want to do this for cosmetic reasons.
